The Titanium Bike Designed to Last and Built to Adapt
British titanium craftsmanship meets click-on electric innovation.
Enigma Bicycle Works and Skarper have partnered to redefine what a long-term titanium bike looks like in a changing cycling landscape.
Rather than launching a single dedicated electric model, this collaboration introduces a smarter and more flexible idea. Every Enigma frame can now be built with the future in mind, allowing riders to add electric assistance only if and when they choose.
Built to Last, Not to Be Replaced
For many riders, commissioning an Enigma is a considered decision. These are bikes designed for durability and long-term ownership, not regular replacement.
What happens if I need electric assistance one day, but don’t want a dedicated e-bike now?
The Enigma Skarper titanium bike answers that question clearly.
Click power on when you need it.
Click it off when you don’t.
The frame remains timeless.
The ride remains pure.
The choice always stays with the rider.
Every Enigma Can Be Skarper-Ready
All Enigma frames can be specified as Skarper-Ready.
This applies whether you are ordering a fully custom titanium frame or already own an Enigma. From the outset, the frame is designed to accept Skarper’s patented DiskDrive® system, meaning click-on electric assistance can be added at any point during the bike’s lifespan. Not just at the time of purchase, but years down the line if your riding needs change.
There is no permanently integrated motor.
There is no fixed battery system.
And there is no compromise to geometry or handling.
When the drive unit is removed, the bike rides exactly as a traditional Enigma titanium bike should.
Why This Approach Matters
Most electric bikes are designed around integrated motors and batteries. Over time, those components date, fail, or become unsupported. As a result, when that happens, the entire bike often becomes obsolete.
That approach conflicts directly with Enigma’s core philosophy.
By pairing Enigma’s long-life titanium frames with Skarper’s removable and upgradeable drive system, riders gain a genuinely future-proof platform:
- The frame is built to last decades
- The technology can evolve independently
- The bike never becomes disposable
This is not an e-bike that happens to be titanium. It is a titanium bike first, with optional power when circumstances demand it.
Retrofit Options for Existing Enigma Owners
Already own an Enigma? Nothing changes.
Existing Enigma owners can add Skarper using a retrofit kit, with professional installation available at Enigma’s Sussex workshop or through approved bike shops. This makes the Enigma Skarper titanium bike a genuine alternative to buying a dedicated electric bike.
As a result, your current bike does not need replacing. Instead, it simply gains another capability, while remaining the bike you already know and trust.
“Our frames are engineered with permanence in mind. The question we kept hearing was, ‘What if I need electric assist one day?’ Skarper answers that beautifully. It adds capability without compromising the frame, the geometry, or the ride. And when you don’t need it, it comes off. That balance defines the Enigma philosophy.” - Jim Walker, Managing Director, Enigma Bicycle Works
“Enigma represents the pinnacle of British frame building. Hand-crafted titanium, obsessive finishing, and bikes built to be cherished for the long term. Partnering with Enigma allows us to offer something genuinely different: a titanium bike designed to last, with technology that can adapt over time.” - Ean Brown, CEO, Skarper
